i never really liked flash all that much and i guess this could come off biased, but the fact is that building a flash site means all of the pages and elements of the site are wrapped up into essentially one swf file and generally unavailable for distribution.
code and element transparency – gone, page rank – not gonna happen
the real issue arises as social media becomes a way of life for so many people. people want to promote you, your products, your services if they like what your offering. this in turn gets others on your side and eventually you have an army of loyal visitors/customers.
if these ambassadors want to reference an article, image or other asset on your site on their social profiles, and you’re not letting them, you dont just lose the frustrated promoter, but everything that would have followed.
dont ruin it for yourself before you even get going. there is a time and place for flash and there are ways to get around these issues, sorta, but start from a mindset of transparency and work towards your business goal first, whether that’s the most driect route to cash flow or general self-promotion, we all need everything we can get to get where we’re going.
